Art is and
always has been a passion of mine; it's something I've enjoyed since I was
really little. I am by no means a professional, nor does my art compare to some
of the extremely talented artists out there. However, it is something I
thoroughly enjoy and it's nice to now be able to share my drawings and works
with so many people.
As you can probably tell by the subjects of my drawings I have two great
passions; horses, and most of all aviation.
I, as hundreds of young girls and women around the world do, appreciate the
grace, elegance, and strength that horses possess. I hope to capture those
elements in my drawings of these beautiful animals. My first 'real job' when I
was younger was to walk ponies around at fairs and events for children's pony
rides. I did so with pride, and to this day enjoy just being around these
friendly, agile creatures. Maybe one day I'll get to have one of my own?
Aviation and flight; man has dreamed of flying since the beginning of time. Only
just a century ago did we realize those dreams of taking to the skies; a
remarkable feat. I have the privilege of holding a Glider Pilot's License in
Canada, which I obtained in 2003, and a Private Pilot's License that I obtained
a year later in 2004. I believe that everyone should be able to experience
the indescribable freedom and feeling of flight by a person at least once in
their lifetime. Unfortunately this is a hobby that few get to experience due to
the costs associated with it, and so I am thankful that I am one of the few to
able to achieve this dream. For me it was possible because of the scholarship I
obtained through the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. I continue to fly whenever
possible, and hope to pursue an aviation-related career path in the future. I am
currently working at my local Flying Club as a Dispatcher where I have the
pleasure of seeing others realize their dreams of becoming pilots each and every
day. I also volunteer regularly with Vintage Wings of Canada- an exceptional
foundation formed with great appreciation and dedication to the world of
aviation. They have been kind enough to give me the opportunity to showcase my
drawings of their pristine aircraft, by making my prints available for
sale at their hangar in Gatineau, Quebec. For this, I am very grateful.
Apart from high school art classes I have had no formal art training. My skills
have always come, and continue to come, through the observation of other
artist's techniques, and simply trial and error. And so, with each and every
drawing I complete I learn something new. My skills and techniques are
ever-evolving, as is everyday life. I welcome any comments or criticism
regarding my artwork, as this will only help me to improve. I'm 24 years old; I
still have a lot to learn!
Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and visiting my site. I hope you
like what you see!
